And then she collapsed.

“Dude!” Emily yelled.

Kate dropped to her knees beside Jane to check her over.

“Pulse is steady,” Kate said. “Oh.”

“Oh?” Billy said.

Kate tilted the unconscious Jane’s head sideways, revealing a thin scratch along her neck.

“Looks like some of the poison touched this cut,” Kate said.

“Like I warned you,” Eric said. “Paralytic.”

“How long does it last?” Titus asked.

Eric frowned.

“From personal experience, I can tell you, if the spider doesn’t bite you again, it starts to wear off in an hour or two.”
